The rich tradition of Dhammissara volleyball traces back to the 1950s, and it reached its pinnacle in 1981 under the leadership of Mr. K.M.P Ranaweera, who was the principal at the time. With the invaluable guidance of the school’s sports advisor, Mr. T.M.S Peiris, Dhammissara clinched its first Sri Lankan school championship title, marking a historic achievement for the school.

Furthermore, Mr. Peiris’s mentorship paved the way for individual excellence as well. In 1984, two standout players from Dhammissara, Mr. Keerthi Jayasekara, and Mr. Channa Jayasekara, proudly represented the Sri Lankan national team for the first time. Their inclusion in the national squad stands as a testament to the caliber of talent nurtured at Dhammissara and the exceptional coaching provided by Mr. Peiris.
